Until the 8 March 2011, Organists Online was mainly concentrated in London and the South East. Since that date, it has been rolled out equally across the UK. As no charges are made for using the site, it has no income and, therefore, no budget for advertising. Its use in its original area has mainly been faciliated by word-of-mouth and the dropping off of leaflets and flyers in churches visited for services, weddings and funerals. The same process can be used anywhere in the country.

To make the site usable in any area there are two stages necessary:

  1. A number of organists in that area need to register with the site so that, when local clients make use of the site, they are likely to receive a positive response;
  2. When this first stage is completed, potential clients (churches and choirs) need to be informed that the service is available.

To facilitate both stages, I have prepared two fliers: the first for informing local organists that the site now covers their area, and the second for letting potential clients know that the service is available. Allowing for the expense of paper and ink, it will cost about 2p to produce each flier.

Anyone is free to develop the use of the site in their area, and make use of the fliers, if they wish. If you do, I suggest a couple of things:

  1. Make sure that you are well away from London, or you might overlap the already existing use of the site and your efforts will be diluted;
  2. Let me know if you are going to do this. Not because I want to control things, but if I know about your efforts and I also know about someone close to you trying the same thing, I can put you in touch with each other. It's better to co-operate rather than compete.
By its very nature,

Organists Online is open to everyone, and developing a local hotspot does not guarantee you riches beyond your wildest dreams. But anything which facilitates the contact between organists, pianists, churches, choirs, soloists .. etc is worthwhile.
