Philip Norman Notices
For all funeral and most wedding jobs - you cannot rely upon finding the music you need in the church or chapel you are going to. It's always safer to take your own.
Even in a crematorium or cemetery chapel, a funeral is like a little church service. Unless instructed otherwise, play something as people enter and leave.
It is always VERY USEFUL, given the chance, to check with the officiating minister/priest that you both know what the music is and what tunes are being sung.
For both weddings and funerals, appropriate dress on the part of the organist is always appreciated by clients. You may be hidden as you play, but people are likely to see you arriving and/or departing. Ideally, you shouldn't look out of place if mingling with the guests/mourners.
