All choirs and interested singers
are invited to take part in this 2012 Annual
Small Choirs Festival. Small Choirs Festivals
are designed for small church choirs (those with few or no men) and
are based on a repertoire that such choirs could manage in their own
churches without further resources. However, all singers and choirs
who support the aims of the festival are invited.
Find out more about Small
Choirs Festivals in general and the range of free, downloadable
music available, via this LINK.
There is no charge for participation but to
cover the costs of organisation and administration participating
singers will have the opportunity to contribute to a collection.
The first Small Choirs Festival was held in
February 2004 as a project between the choirs of St. John's, Leytonstone;
St. Francis', Barkingside; and St. Paul's, Goodmayes, all in
East London/South West Essex.
Registered choirs are now found around the world. |

End |
This year, for the first time, the festival has been moved to a Saturday
afternoon rather than a Sunday afteroon/evening. It is also starting
an hour earlier than previous festivals. Additionally, the festival
has been re-located from East London/South West Essex to Central London.
These changes have been made for a number of reasons:
| a) |
|
Festivals held on Sundays excluded those choirs
and organists who have duties and responsibilites to their home
churches at this time. It is hoped that, by holding the festival
on a Saturday, these people will be able to participate. |
| b) |
|
The earlier start and finish means that the
journey home will not end so late. |
| c) |
|
The Central London venue will be more accessible
to choirs from across London and beyond. |
